Nuthin Xtreme !!

Well, the new CBZ pics are out, and all you CBZ aficionados must have got a glimpse of it by now. Have a look down and you’ll find that de bike doesn’t really stand up to the hype created by the ads.

Xtreme Mash-up

CBZ Xtreme

For me it looks like an ‘xtreme’ mash up of various bikes in India. I still wonder why the HH guys are so obsessed with de Ambition tank. They used earlier in Achiever, and now in Xtreme. The Exhaust end and side chrome looks like one derived from Platina (enlarged of course). The lower half is the same as Karizma, and on an overall basis looks like Apache. I can’t figure out what’s the USP? Absolute Letdown!!

Well CBZ had created a brand name in the Indian automobile industry that no bike could match. But unfortunately the HH guys have flopped it. I don’t know about the ride quality esp. issues like handling etc (havn’t got a hand on one). I guess it should remain the same as the earlier one (at least that should be there, else why should people buy it?). Scroll down for more details of thee bike. It has a 150 cc engine (actual rumored to be 157.smthin cc) and delivers 14 bhp, a very powerful engine. Unconfirmed resources say that the mileage the company claims is around 48 kmpl, so one should get around 40 in city conditions.

Well, as a bike enthusiast I’d liked something new from the HH factory, and not derivatives of some other bike (even Bajaj is doing the same thing, same pattern of design for all bikes). I guess a higher engine capacity or a different name altogether could have done the magic for HH. But sorry you’ve disappointed. Well, all that I can hope is de designers work it out the next time in their future offerings.

Bike Info

Basics:

150cc, 14.2 BHP powerful engine, and highest acceleration in the segment: 0 – 60 kmph in 5 seconds(as claimed by HH), new model comes with a 3-year / 40,000 kms warranty

First Kind Features:

* LED Tail Light – first time ever on any two-wheeler in the country (Bajaj has already launched Pulsar 180 with LEDs so you are second)
* Split Rear Grip, again a first-time feature in motorcycles in India
* Black Alloy Wheels (Like the one’s in Karizma/Apache)
* Front Disc brakes (Nothing new, should have included rear discs also)
* Aircraft type Fuel Tank Lid.
* Wide 100/90 low aspect ratio rear tyre for additional road grip and safety. (Apache already has it)
* Dark grey colour engine (Looks like HH got their heart burnt when they saw Pulsar n Apache steal their show.)

Additional Features:

* Integrated tail light and winkers (looks Ugly)
* Front winkers integrated with the visor (same comment)
* Pilot lamps positioned above the head light (Even uglier)
* Sculpted & Sharp Rear Cowl (Karizma and Gladiator derivative)
* Brushed steel console panel finish.
* Contoured seat.

  1. Dude

D only let down r d luks. Bt D performance is be xtreme.
CBZ is a brand which boasts about performance.

The CBZ was a class apart in terms of performance when it was launched.

M sure dis trend wil continue.

Chk out d specs dude dats wat matrs.
14.2 BHP out of a 150cc is pretty awesome.
Add to dat a super refined honda engine which is miles ahead of d pulsar n light years ahead of d Apache

    Think Abt it

    CBZ rocks

  2. Hmm hvnt seen it as yet, but me no fan of mixed breeds. Not of my tastes…

U guys should also chk out this Pulsar 180 limited edition… mayb not so many miles behind CBZ Rawshwin…

    http://www.jeba.in/posts/bajaj-pulsar-180-cc-limited-edition/

Yea but the tail is a little upset. Have seen it in the showroom.

  3. everyone says the performance is good.I don’t know but as far as the looks are concerned,it’s pretty much a letdown

  4. CBZ sucks

  5. owned a cbz…solld it recently for K_Blaze.But I miss biking.
I am sure the new cbz is a great looker …..IHMO its a let down in terms of looks.NOT a headturner like the first one

  6. oops I meant great performer….

  7. CBZ extreme really dosent do the justice to old CBZ, They would have got the old CBZ with a black engine and black alloy and 180cc+ would have definately did wonder….Iam sure there are many fans who would have bought it without a second thought…Well I would point its number of aspects when i saw it in thee showroom…

    1. It really look very bad in actual the worst part is its rear and front and the exhaust….i dont know who approve this kind of design in hero honda ……It had a red coloured spark plug wire…dont know what it adds to the bike looks….

    2. It was launched with such a hype that…it triggered a reaction that we are going to get atleast 200cc+ bike but see what we got 150cc bike which many will agree that it look similar like achiever and glamour….the hype shoudnt have been created in first place and secondly they shouldnt have the legendry CBZ name…Well what HH thinks is achiever tank and glamour pannels are better than CBZ….well god knows….

    3. I think that Honda wouldnt have allowed them to use the old CBZ chassis and design that would have definitly dented in to Hondas market and even othes. Old CBZ is even now the best looking motorcycle availiable right now…It can be concluded with a poll….Even i have pulsar 180cc red and black, but anyday i would have cone for Old CBZ if it would have been 180cc+ bike…Even know i am willing to dicth my pulsar 180cc for Old CBZ with karizma engine…i hope many would join me

  8. You are right Dinesh, (Actually, I also appreciate your patience of writing sucha long comment..)

The New CBZ does not go along with the heritage of the old CBZ..

Saw a few Xtreme’s on road some days ago… and believe me..the pics are ryt..

It doesn’t look good at all… shud have called atleast Ambition..

But this is a gr8 dissapointment..

HH’s coming wid some new launches in 07, hope they are good..

  9. Thanks maltesh I have really poured my heart down after I saw the real CBZExtreme….in real. I refrained from passing a comment before I saw it in actual….Its really pathetic I tried to convince myself from each and every angle that it looked good but all my efforts were in vein…..its worst part is its rear…It may be good piece of engineering but there are many……When i was i hyderabad i learned that CBZ will be launching a 325cc bike called CROMA….well i doubt!because the engine design what honda has given HH is from 125cc to 225cc not more than that…thats why all their new launches are between this range…..I saw the picture of new Karizma FI, its alloy are red in colour and has a engine cover….it really sucks! they are making worst design even from their earlier model

  10. Its a clear indication that Honda isnt helping much HH, on ther technical side.. C no monoshock on the Xtreme, and the engine isnt as smooth as Uni..

what next is to simply watch out for the next launches frm HMSI…

  11. hey any body can send me the pix of The new Karizma Fi, plz anyone, mail me at dakul_sphinx@rediffmail.com . . .. I am 18 yrs old and interested in BIKES

  12. A great insult to the brand CBZ….
should have launched it as Achiever Xtreme..
Maltesh, u r right. Honda has done it’s work with the technology,,but the designing sucks. HH still believe that they can ride on the fortunes of splender & passion. I don’t know why. For HH, upgrading means graphical stickers, colours and a plus sign. I think, their realm has come to the final stage..unless they come with a better model.

  13. Doesnt the extreme look like its out of a comic book? hahaha

  14. Guys who whines at CBZ-X,

I ride CBZ-X to work and home ~85Km a day now for 3 months. I keep my speed between 60-80Kmph on the road with close-in driving with the traffic flow on busy Sri Lankan roads. Im getting 50-54Km/l from the start and now I have completed 6000Km and enjoy riding each day.

I have face some dangerous situations in the road and bike always managed to stop where I wanted and within safe area. braking was good and can be trusted.

Acceleration is also good , and max speed is around 110 so far , I have no trouble overtaking the fast line vehicles on the highway.

:) Gear lever scratched my left shoe , I solved that by my self , by fixing a soft rubber ring around the gear lever head.

2 out of 5 week days I take my girlfriend to university in which adds 20 more KM to my travel, she likes this bike , more than my other bike – a fuel drinking Hornet 250 which made my buy a new bike to go to work daily. she is too scared of Hornets acceleration. LOL

I am riding bikes since 1999 and have driven almost all Indian bikes and a lot of Japaneses bikes,

Indian bikes lacks finish and duarability when compared to a Japaneses master piece like the hornet, yet CBZ-X so far proved Hero-Honda still have Honda charisma left in them.

yet have to ride at least 15000 to comment about it properly.. C U guys in few months again..
