That’s it, the end of my ‘running in’ period, that’s because today I clocked 1000 Kms on my TVS Apache. I’m no longer expected to be within the 4000 rpm limit.
But that wouldn’t mean I would blast of my bike to 6/8 (*1000) rpm, immediately. Doing that would rip it to hell. I’ve planned a steady Step by Step increase in my RPM limit for every 500 Kms. and gradually I shall take the bike to its top speed of 112 Kmph (Claimed, not yet verified personally)
Notes:
The Gearbox has improved very much, and has become very precise and smooth.
Max Speed encountered during the 500 – 1000 Kms run: 60 Kmph.

Well, Shiva, The gear shifts are a problem in the initial period.
They do improvise with use, but the they are still hard esp downshifting from 2nd to 1st, while you halt the bike.
Other than this, there is no gr8 problem on other gear shifts.
The bike is stable @ high speed, and higher gear shifts are smooth and precise.
Riding Comfort is good, esp its cornering abilities are remarkable.

Hi,
Am planning to buy the Apache by this month end.
THREE of the users have told me that it has the Vibration problem when u go above 50kmph.
Is this rectified by any new models released this year?
coz my frenz have bought it last year. .
How would I know if the one am buying would be a prob free and of the latest one released this year without the VIBE prob ?(incase its resolved by the later models ?
Thanks for any reply..

Well, Pavan I would suggest you to wait till the new Apache RTR hits the showroom.
Thats not because of the vibes problem (There aint any, that I have faced, touchwood) and there are problems of a clunck gearbox, and I have faced a few false neutrals. But elsewise there aint any major probs as like of vibes.
The new Apache, is known to be better that the ones sold now, the gearbox problem is reportedly being fixed, and has a loger wheelbase, and is a 157cc, 15.2 bhp bike.
Read more about it on my blog post on the Apache RTR

Hi,
The new TVS Apache RTR 160 cc arrived and I am very much interested about this bike. If anyone took a test ride or bought one pls inform me about the experience. My brother-in-law owes a Pulsar 150 cc and insisting me continuously to go for Pulsar but I after several enquiry zeroed to CBZ Xtreme or Apache 160. Till yesterday ( today is 24th July 2007 ) I was inclined to CBZ Extreme but today when I saw a Apache 160 in a showroom I was almost out of words. Its really cool. I wanted to take a test ride but they said they don’t have one for now. Anyway TVS worked a lot on the model but little afraid to put it on trail. Hope it will meet my expectation.

Hi all,
Very recently i had tried on the new beast “Apache RTR 160″.It is absolutely smooth, though i did not hit the dirt, i did not feel the problems of Apache 150cc in this, namely false Neutral, Sitting ergonomics and unstable vibration during pick up.I am 6′5″ tall, though it appears small, TVS has worked around the sitting ergonomics, they have moved the pedal back and it is much sportier than before.Digital speedometer assembly is better i should say than what i expected, but should have thought about different tone of back light. My worries millage, braking comfortability in the new pedal and reach of controls in the clip type handle bar.Apart from this i don’t see anything wrong. My verdict go for Apache RTR 160 comparing with Pulsar 150CC and Hero Honda CBZ extreme.I am now going to be proud owner of RTR 160.
