Hi Folks, this may be one of the most anticipated launches of the year, as many would like to know how Hero Honda would reply to Bajaj’s Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi.

There is no news on what features the bike shall be upgraded, many expect a Fuel Injection System to be in place along with a considerable amount of power boost.
The Engine has a new mud guard, and red colored suspension springs. I have a gut feeling that this may be just a Stickering upgrade (See the ‘R’ on the tank) and all the hype may be a waste. Check in this blog for more updates on the bike.

I was expecting a Fuel Injection on it. If thats not added, then it cant be much different than the original one. Its not even 250 cc, the same 223cc.

i saw the bike today…looks pretty neat..though the sales person himself didnt know the technical specification of the bike..i test rode it though..the pickup has has definitely improved..and its much smoother..the gear shift is like butter…

Dammmmmm man, I’m currently working in Mumbai (NRI) and due to the Mumbai traffic instead of purchsing a Car, went for the Kari….
Nice standard bike for the mumbai, i heard that Hero Honda are releasing a newer and better model…
But Dammnnnnnnn, what the hell is that, looks like somesone had just added some stickers and some cheap cover,
rims, i feel sick looking at those…
Speaking as someone who already owns a Kari, I Dont Think people will be purchasing this new model, has no difference,
exp in the performace, if its not a 250CC or above, Whats the Point,!!!

Hi Ash,
I would vote the previous edition of ZMA, as one of the best bikes in India, but unfortunately HH has again showed its expertise it animation talents.
I personally don’t like any form of graphics on a bike. Dual/ two tone colour will do, but no graphics.
Yea, agree with you that HH should launch bikes which are more than sticker upgrades. They need to launch bikes that reflect the mood of the biking community.

I tell you the whole story –
Nothing but just some body changes on Karizma.
Its 223 CC, with black engine and engine guard along with it.
with more graphics and black & red alloy wheels.
No Fuel Injection.
But assure you that it will give you more mileage than before.

I got the new Karizma R the vry 1st day it was launched. The styling is like icing on the cake and it is still game for the trend of head – turning.
I have had the chance of riding the old Karizma and find not that much difference on the new one apart from the glitzy looks.
The Dials too have blue glowing lights unlike the old ones.
The mileage is 28 thereabouts contradictory to popular beliefs of 35-40 guaranteed by the company.
Nevertheless the xperience on this monster machine is worth that xtra penny spend…

Well, everyone’s expecting a Fi version of the ZMA, but I do not have any concrete information regarding this.
Those interested in buying a 220cc engine, I shall suggest waiting for some time as some better bikes are in the foray.
The P220 shall be out in May, and also a possible 250cc bike from Honda.
My suggestions would be, If you are in a hurry to buy a bike, then the Zma, is a good option but for those who can wait, trust me, the wait shall be fruitfull.

hi maltesh,,,good day! i am buying the new karizma in a couple of days. can u pls advice me a good way to remove the “R” design n tos graphic in the new version without scratches.is re-painting the only option?and also pls help me find a good worksop for modifying bike,,please note i just want to change the the front & the rear tires by winder tyres and thicker alloys and also an engine cover. heard putting up engine cover disturbs in cooling the oil,,please advice,,

I dont think the older ZMA is still available. Vaibhav if u are plannin to get somethin above 200, try out the P200( Oil Cooled).. its a damn stylish bike with the best features but except Fi. Its got the 1st tubeless tires in bikes in India. The sittin position has been changed a bit by shiftin the footrests back. The other one to try is P220 Fi. Will be launched in May.The repots say its the best ever bike made in India. But some 35 demo biked were introduced last month n had to be pulled back due to probs with Fuel Injection.
Personelly I can say, apart from the red alloys n the R, KARIZMA still beats all for ingine realiability n gearbox n engine smoothness. its like a bullet, they may not have the latest techno, but they still beat all….

i would prefer HH guys look to add dual head light, 250CC, Full engine cover, oil cooled, tall n lenthy wehicle with broader front and rear tyres with good firing, n standard and not flashy designs… which is completely missing in the new HH Karizma.. i would prefer the hh karizmas first model than the second one.. the first R and D made the design and the second Destroyed it.. HH guys be careful with the bajaj pulsar guys, they hav good sense of understanding wat the yuth wants than u people..

Actually Pulsar 220 has got good looksthan zma. Nd also this vinyls and engine guard in zma can be done even by a child now, ha ha.. . Pulsar has got many features thet zma can never reach in near future. So those who are confused between these two (zma & Pulsar), i am recommending you to buy Pulsar 220/200, cos ithas got good mileaged, highly powerfull and reasonably priced. Its filled with many features Split seats, Wider & Tubeless tyres, higher stability, Automatic indicator switch off, Fuel Ingection( P 220), back lit control panel,digital speedo meter with orange backlit.

This new Karizma R is confusing me! Is there ANYTHING AT ALL that has changed in performance specifications? Or is it just a visual change?
Like the mileage…I heard a rumour that it increased from about 35 kmpl to 45-50kmpl…but is that true?
So EVERYTHING that has changed is just the looks? Like how?
And did HH add ANY new pieces or parts at all to Karizma R? Like a split rear grip or something…remember the split rear grip in the CBZ Xtreme…that silver thing at the end.

i’m really confused . actually i had pulsar 150 cc earlier but now i wanna go for karizma 223cc ….. but the company really dissapointed me as they did’nt do much in it , they only put some glowing sticker ( which they call it as graphics) on it and with a stupid plastic engine cover …… i expected more than this frm the company and so i decide to take pulsar 200cc or 220 cc but now i heard tht HERO HONDA is also launching there new reformed karizma with 250cc…..
so now can any body tell me tht is it true tht the company is comin up with new reformed kzma 250cc or is it only a rumorsssss…..

Rahil, i completly agree with what u said about the P220. The bajaj guys are doin fantastic in the Technology part, but really sorry to say that they need more help for Styling. Although P220 has most of the features n also the performace u c in a Sports bike, it really lacks the Sports bike look… n this is where the HH guys have done better, givin ZMA a real Sports bike look… n guys, If one is willing to be a real head turner for the gals, n I bet every guy wants that, do keep in mind that ZMA has a special place in the gals’ hearts., Gals just love this bike than ne other bike on the Indian rds..

Well Karizma is definately more sporty and attarctive. Its high time that atleast they come out with 250cc engine now. Overall a no nonsense bike, very reliable and good prower by Indian Standards. I wish they come out with a lil wider rear tyre.
Pulsar 220cc is a good bike. Technologically its a better bike than a ZMA . But it looks like a mix and match of old pulsars and something new poured in. Doesnt give you a impression of a genuine sports bike. THough the accessories and equipments are best in indian markets. The fairing is the most dissapointing aspect of 220cc. The fairing looks to huge as compared to the rest of the body. If you look from the front the fairing looks too big for the front mud guard and tyre. They can improve that , it feels as though it has a overgrown head. The fuel tank needs to be changed.Its the same fuel tank that bajaj has been using . I think pulsar 200 is more smarter as compared to the 220cc.
