As I had guessed Hero Honda has successfully churned out yet another disappointment, from its factories. This is just a STICKER UPGRADE, and no Fuel Injection system on board. The Specs aren’t out yet. But there aren’t any rumors of a tremendous power boost, either. The engine is said to accelerate faster, and is smoother than the existing one (Is that enough for a Upgrade??)

The bike is on sale in Delhi, and is priced at Rs. 77500 (On Road)

My Take:

Going by the looks, HH has once again showed its excellence in making animated cartoons. First was the CBZX, wherein they royally murdered the looks of the old CBZ, and same here too. The red springs look awkward, and don’t get along with the stickering job also. The R that’s slapped on its tank, makes me wonder whom have they emploted after all for this job? The engine has been blackened but again many can do it as an after market mod also.

C’mon HH, this isn’t we bikers expect from you. This Karizma, is yet another example after CBZX, that the technology transfer from Honda to their Indian conterparts, has ceased or rather I put it as, non existent anymore. With both CBZX, and this HH has again bought in bikes that claimed to be a show stopper, and in turn not even making it to venue. The CBZX, is known to be good in terms of power, and handling something that many would have expected. It is believed that the Unicorn engine is more smother than both CBZX and Achiever, although they sport the same engine. Now hows that possible? Both CBZX and the new ZMA, were expected to have some sort of technological upgrades, but nothing came along. I believe if both sported a Mono shock, then the whole scenario may have been diferrent.

As for me, I have decided that I shall no more dedicate much of my blog space to HH, until it gets better, and launches some new bikes, new in the sense a new design altogether, and not any stcker upgrade.

Responses

  1. I agree, the R sucks. The bike really needs to be redesigned, it simply looks like a big rubber balloon compared to the chiselled p200.

  2. ZMA has launched new model with new graphics. But loooks nice than the older one. But Pulsar 220 DTS-FI has launched. They have given additional facilities like Digital speedo, Rear Disc and only starter. But Bajaj’s bikes have no resale value But Hero Honda have more than it. After all HH is HH.

  3. whts the price of new gladiator and karizma

  4. i think hh should work on da tecno part of da bike, look at bajaj though i hate da company but hh is forcin me 2 lik it as they r bringing alllll da tecnological advancement in bikes plz hh u’ll should do something about it!

  5. the new karizma looks cool but i think it will be more better if there is a full engine cover like that in super bikes….try that yo!!!

  6. Why all the hallabaloo about the technology upgrade for HH Karizma.
they have pulled out a new bike at the same price with better looks.
if you wanna know wats new abt the bike, then here’s your ans –

Karizma is a beast with several first of its kind features:
    • Added Under cowl to give a full cowl feel
    • New set of stripe
    • A few new body colour
    • New look meter console
    • Contemporary key design
    • Painted side cover
    • Mat Axis Grey painted engine
    • ‘R’ being pronounced on the bike
    • Black colour engine strengthening the sporty look

now so many upgrades at the same price is quite appreciable. also, when we talk about a technological upgrade, give me one indian manufactured bike with better throttle, engine power and looks. the handling is simply amazing and bike is rock solid and steady even at 135kmph.

just love the black matted 5 spoke wheels casts. dont know about you guys, buy anyone having flair for styling and appreciation for the best, would definitely term it as – The Beast

  7. Hi Adish,

If thats the way you term as a new bike, then the new Suzuki Zeus should be called one, and not as a upgrade, and I can give you many such upgrades.

I stongly disargee with you views regarding calling this bike NEW,
Ok, there are the stickers slapped on it, but the general audience, includine me, would call it an Upgrade.

If there was no technology upgrade, then why such a fuss about it, by HH. A fuel injection bike, with performace figures better then the existing version was expected, but no, they gave us nuthin but stickers.

New set of stripe” – can you elaborate what do you mean by this?

An of all the other features. that you say are first time in India, then lemme tel you thay arent. Cowl looks awkward, and coule have been connected to the fairing, but that should have been offered only with a performance upgrade. Body colour, key design etc are secondary things, or even tertiary thing that come into a true bikers mind. Thats what you do not look out in a bike uprgade, and one wont but a bike for that reasons.

And talkin about prics, tell me how much his might be costing the company? It would be a meagre amount compared the amount they have spent in creating the hype.

One Indian manf, with better power, ...”
Well, I aint comparing and neither I’m a Pulsar addict, but the Pulsar 200, churns out, more power than the ZMA. Ok the engine isnt as good as the Honda, but had HH increased the specs of the bike, and raised the power to something to 20+bhp, then it would have definately been a true competitor to the Pulsar, and bikers like me, would have got more from these companies, through the competition. The customer is always the King.

Well Adish, if technological uprgades wern’t need then you still would have had HH, selling the same Splendour, with a same engine, in 15 variants, with Plus and Minus signs. (Thats an exageration). ;)

Technological move the industry mate! thats because we always are in a quest to get something better everytime, but thisedition isnt a better tyhing to happen. Temm me cant an existing Zma owner carry out these upgrades, and claim it to be better? If a new ZMA owner strips the bike of the stickers and the cowl, then how can he assert the his bike is better the the old ones in terms of performace?

    Think about it, Adish

    :)

  8. Hey Adish,

    R U mad……………

See, A bike is said to be called as upgrade only if its grade has been increased, here nothing has happened as such……

Stickering, Colouring and adding some plastic here & there is not an upgrade b’cos this doesn’t improves anything, the speedo with matching body colour looks good but this doesn’t mean that bike enthusiast will go for it……..there are a lot of thing to improve……………….

To be frank, I expect the CC & BHP to be increased, to call a bike as upgrade…. a big example is PULSAR (150, 180, 200, 220 to be launched…) but this bajaj idiots don’t have any other design, other than pulsar so they are playing with it, but HH are mature enough to understandd that and they should launch an all new bike with new loooks and name, and that should be powerful…..

Ya by saying this I mean that CBZ-X is an improvement BUT BUT…………..thats not so big to say that every one should go for it , a mear 1.7 BHP doesn’t make so much of difference…
