I said it would be a blockbuster, and yes it is indeed.
The much awaited upgrade from TVS of their premium segment bike, Apache is out called as the Apache RTR (Wondering what it means, but who cares, check out the bike)
The bike is longer, more powerfull, has all those goodies that the Pulsarians and Xtremists talked about and more importantly is a killer in looks.
Posted below are pics from Rearset’s blog.
Rearset, a anonymous blogger, has posted more pics of the bike, in close up, along with the soecifications. Check them out through the links here.
TVS Apache RTR 160: In the full
Apache 160 3: The rear end and details
What I liked in the new bike:
- More Power – 15.2 bhp @ 8500 rpm,
- Better braking – Petal discs, that enhance cooling, and provide efficient and quick braking
- Length: 2020 mm, Yea it longer now.
- and more perf stats, 0-60 kph: 4.80 seconds, and Max Speed – 118 kph
- Even more important is the fact that the body panels havent been changed, and the headlights are unaltered. Thanks TVS for not trying what HH did.
- Brake lever, like the oned on CBZX, but the one on Apache RTR, are forged, check out the pic on Rearset’s blog.
What I didnt like:
- Stickers on the mud guard, TVS could have avoided it, serves no purpose, plain body rocks !!
- The rear lights could have lookes more better, but no complains for know. Pictures don’t tell the whole story.
May the Tribe increase !!

how come no one is even talking about the way cool engine guard??!!! that piece needs a closeup shot man.

The on road price fo this bike is arround 66,250 INR.
This bike is having all the features the generation needs with a good price.
The sporty look, the mileage, front look finishing, pick up power evrything is awesome.
Guys……..looking for quality as well as performance; this is the right choice. If you are going for Bajaj Pulsar 200cc or 220cc then you have to compromise with mileage. And the cost ‘ll be high.So this bike is the ultimate for those who want both performance and quality.

I just stepped in to the TVS showroom last week, and i drived the bike. It was really a fantastic experience. The RTR cost 63110 INR on road in Chennai. The mileage of the bike ranges from 50 to 55 km/l. Still what more u need. My hands up thanks to TVS racing group…………………..

Hi Guys,
Finally i owned Apache RTR 160 last week. The pick up of the bike is really great. Not even a pulsar 180 can with stand it’s pick up. The vibration is completely reduced to zero. The silencer is totally different which sounds like a Bullet bike. But i am much worried about the Mileage of the bike since am getting only 40km/l. But the TVS team said me that the mileage will be increased to 50 km/l after first service of the bike. So far i have crossed 200 km. Still am waiting for 300km and 3 weeks to go for the service. Let’s wait see what happens. Can any one please suggest me about the mileage. Rather than mileage the bike really looks racy. Completely born on the Race Track. Racing Throttle Response.

Hey sailesh,
welcome to the TRIBE
I own an apache 150 and I’ve been using it for over 8 months now. the mileage figure you quoted concerns me. mine has been doing 62+ (worst case). To my knowledge, most of the apaches return 55-60kmpl and an RTR should return 50-55kmpl. well, as you know, these figures largely depend on how you ride the bike. Don’t do hare jumps and don’t cross 40kmph for the initial 1000kms, at least. Don’t let anything tempt you to rip the bike. How you ride your bike during the setting time largely influences its performance for the rest of it’s life.
By the way, I am seriously planning to switch to an RTR, but am waiting for the review of dilip balm. I’d be glad if you can share your thoughts.
Have fun

I was TVS Suzuki brand loyal till i was frustrated by feiro performance. I had few issues with TVS before in terms of product. None of my product lasted good for more then four years. They were extremely worn out and exhausted, i mean no mileage, power and too much maintenance cost. Also service TVS centres in Mumbai were very bad till 2003. I mean initially i was contacted by one of their mechanic how convinced that he will serve more better outside service centre & i did that. I was also offered stolen parts from new bikes which came for service there, i mean i installed original feiro clutch plate for only 300 RS still which mechanic sgtole from some poor customer. Even today in borivali east TVS service centre off daulat nagar, i dont see any security who can check or prohibit mechanics taking parts on their way home. Then bought Pulsar in 2003 and till date honestly no issues in terms of product (still same power, mileage etc) and excellent service from Sai service centre. Now I am not a Pulsarian neither RTRian. All i always wish that competitor should come up with better products so the counter competitor strive to survive by offering more better product, and there we have good choices around us. Well i would like to ask any Apache owner that is TVS product has good durability? cause now i set my mind to go for RTR.

Hi Guys,
Anybody Riding a RTR facing Vibration Problem. I feel a little vibration at lower speed. Other than that its simply a superb bike. Pulsar , cbz x and other nothing when compared to rtr. Its just dominates every other bike (atleast in 150 cc category ).
Pls give some suggestion about my problem i.e. vibration. First Service is due after 3 more weeks or 280 km whichever is early. Not worried about milage. I need power.
