I happened to see the new Pulsar 220 Ad on the television, and saw Bajaj return to the ‘Hamara Bajaj‘ marketing tag. Truly, Bajaj is growing to become a common man’s bike maker. Today, almost every second Indian has a Bajaj bike in his/her garage.
And here’s my share of the pie, a 1989 model, 2 stroke, 90cc Bajaj Chetak. 16 years on from the time of purchase, the scooter still starts without a hick.

yup!!! truly Bajaj made great scooters… But even at the era when scooters ruled the market, the LML vespa was considered far better than Bajaj. Bajaj had its share of the market only because of its pricing… nothing else.
Even today, bajaj adopts a strategy wherein variants of the same Bike are launched at regular intervals. This helps to cut down cost but every Tom Dick and Harry on the road has a pulsar. Only a vigilant eye or someone well versed with the current bikes in the market is able to differentiate them. To everyone else they all look the same. I have experienced it also.
They are continuing with the same strategy with the launch of the 220cc pulsar. Just a few minor changes to pulsar( a higher capcaity engine, no doubt but thats only noticeable to the rider and a few others) and voila!!! U have a Bike very much similar to the old pulsar placed in a segment where each rider wants to stand out in a crowd…
The same is the case with the discover series( thats a better name for it)
So listen up Bajaj!!! We are now waiting for the 500cc pulsar and then the 1000cc pulsar n so on with looks very much similar to the pulsar 150cc.

Yes, ‘Anon’
Its because of this stategy is Bajaj the common man’s bike maker. Every one has one…
But one should appeciate them cause they are bringing mobility to everuone’s reach. SO what if they are not upto some Japanese standard, they sell, and thats what matters to them.
And they do keep updating their products, but at a very fast rate. That enables technological enhancement, but the spare part penetration gets affected. Guess Bajaj can work on this…

Nice comment. So what r u expecting? a bike with an autorickshaw top? or with 4 wheels on it? A true motoring enthusiast knows that the engine is the heart of the machine, and looks are for just the ladies. Would you like to ride a stylish pair of fairing with no engine, but rather you use your feet to run it aorund? If you wanna make your bike truely unique (in looks), there are ample means of customizations. The Indian bike market has all players doin the same. Revamp and relaunch, with absolutely no changes to the heart, which sucks. An old hog in a bikini. I appreciate Bajaj for breaking the pattern and bringing in new refreshing changes to the Indian biking world.
Due respect to Anon’s perspective:
Finally a Car is a Car, be it a Maybach, A Veyron, or a Premier Padmini. Has seat, sterring wheel and body.
