The New 2008 Honda Accord Unveiled, but for the American markets

2008 Honda Accord Sedan

The Honda Accord has been quite a success in India, and this story only follows the success story. The Eight generation of the Honda Accord has been unveiled, but for now its not for India. I hope it does make it here, considering the fact the competition in the segment is increasing with new launches like Nissan Teana. I won’t get down to much details on this one, since it is not meant for Indian market (at least for now) and another fact that I am not at all impressed with the exteriors of the car. Many on the internet term this a 5-series wannabe. I actually like the current Accord on sale in India and comparatively the exteriors have disappointed me.

BUT mind you, keep the disappointment out, and inside the roof, and under the hood it’s a hell of a thing. The engines offered in the US are more powerful than the existing ones and the interiors are simple mind blowing. The US market shall also have an upgraded coupe as well. (not shown in pics).

Here’s an excerpt from Autoblog’s blogost.

There are three basic engines available, including a 3.5L iVTEC V6 producing 273 horsepower and 250 ft-lbs. of torque. Do the math and you’ll realize the ‘08 Accord with this engine is the most powerful Honda ever produced. It also features a new Variable Cylinder Management system when ordered in the sedan that can power the vehicle on three, four or all six cylinders to achieve an excellent 19/29 mpg. The other two mills are a 2.4L inline-four producing 200 horsepower/170 ft-lbs., and another 2.4L producing 180 horsepower/166 ft-lbs. All models of the ‘08 Accord can be ordered with a five-speed automatic, while four-cylinder models can also be had with a 5-speed manual transmission, and the V6 Coupe can be optioned with a six-speed manual.

Interested readers can follow the link here to read more on the car. I haven’t featured much on the car because the options, if offered may be different for India.

  1. I actually like the look of the exterior, The headlights do have a BMW type appearance to them as they reach pretty far back. It’ll for sure be a big seller here in the US.

  2. I’m not so sure I like the exterior better than the ‘07 model, but the bigger disappointment in my eyes is that the ‘08 sedan has gotten larger. So much so that it qualifies as full-size now.

  3. i fell old one better

  4. I got dissappointed after seeing the new model of honda accord. it is not good looking from out side as previous model is. it has been always my dream car but now i am confused about wether i should take it. i always expect that whenever next model will come that will surely better than the previous model in every regard. now i think nothing can be done. Alas!
