Its Official: Hero Honda Hunk launched!!

Hero Honda Hunk

Hero Honda’s newest member in the premium segment ‘HUNK’ (Err…What name?) has been launched today, with a price tag of Rs. 55K (Ex showroom Delhi). The Hunk Does not come with all the features that it was speculated to come with, and is a 150cc premium segment bike, sharing a tweaked engine with CBZ Xtreme. The engine volumes 149.2cc and produces 14.2 bhp @ 8500rpm with a max torque of 12.8Nm @ 6500rpm.

The Hunk now comes with gas charged, adjustable rear shocks (first on a Hero Honda) and no mono shock as expected. There’s a new tank design with a fairing extending from it. The tail piece though is disappointingly similar to Hero Honda’s Ambition. No Digital instrumentation, no LED tail lamps, no rear discs, no split rear grabs, no body colored mirrors and full fairing as expected but you can do without them either.

Hero Honda Hunk

There some freshness in the bike’s design by means of the new tank and a new bikini fairing (not the one that I would hate in the CBZX), but the tail piece though could have been improved. The design however feels very Apache-ish in terms of the tank design and the rear tail piece. Similarities in looks can also be drawn to Yamaha YBR 250, but of course I am not belittling Hero Honda’s efforts in to the design. I do criticize Hero Honda for their sticker upgrades; this one thankfully has no silly stickers stuck around, surprising right?

The bike is available in two options, kick start and self with the self start option being at Rs 57K (Ex Delhi). Here are the rest of the tech specs as posted by Diesel on Autocar India Forum

  1. Thanks ! searching for the pics n here u go ! thanks man. You’re the first on the web as of I know . It was jst 9hrs ago and you’ve said here you go ! great work !

  2. But still can’t see the front face! looks like good old cbz engine re-fit… No mono, No Digi, No LED.. I’m not sure it can lead the 150… rather it would confuse the segment… Whome is it targeted for!!!! cdz in new avtar… what for?

  3. Thanks Praveen, but credits to Diesel who posted the pics on the forums.

  4. Keep it up HH for a great manly name for a manly bike !

  6. Thanks for the pics but looking a the specs, I find the entire package disappointing. first, dumb name, no fancy instrumentation, and look at the weight; heaviest in its class. So nothing much to look out on the performance front either :(

  7. It looks great in all the pictures. There are lot of issues people get with Digi Speedometer and LEDs, so HH has done a good job to keep them out as much as possible in their lineup. The only thing I am worried about this baby is its tail. Its very far away.

  8. When can we see on road,

  9. Fit and finish of this bike is definitely top notch – a new benchmark in this category. Agree with Praveen, this one has some striking similarity to the old CBZ. For ex – the Tank (sans the fuel lid and extensions) and the side panels (to some extent) seem to be borrowed from the CBZ. Need to compare the same against the dimensions of the CBZ. I would be surprised if there’s no difference in the wheelbase and specs….and ofcourse, an awful name for a bike.

  10. Yeah really looks good.
How about its performance and fuel efficiency.

  11. @Sharath,
Picture credits to Diesel who posted on Autocar India Forum, and yes quite a dumb name, but it does have some takers out here.

    @Prashanth,
    Guess by next month.

    @Sujesh P Lal,
Can’t say right nom, stay tuned for more on this one.

  13. this bike is very nice . its same technology of cbz ex..

  14. good looking, combination of cbz xtreme n pulsar 200.but head light lo0king dull

  15. i like that bike ,having fabolous looking and fantistic modles launch from hero honda in red colour

  16. Not so jazzsy.. As usual with normal HH bike.. Not much fun

  17. WOW!! That’s the Hero Honda.I think HUNK is most stylist bike in 150 segment. It’s surely ROCKS!!!.Thank hero honda TO launch a superb bike after old CBZ.I like HUNK.

  18. I hope Its rear mud guard/tail does not wobble like Pulsar 200. that looks wiered….. Has anyone see it on Indian roads yet ??

From some angles the shape looks good, but actually noting great, just a new bike.

It has been given a manly name, but this name will never apeal Indian Public. Nothing Manly / truly Male than PULSAR…

  19. Agood bike to go for…….. with stable hh Engine

  20. hunk is very attractive good features

  21. thanks for the pics . Sir when it will come to orissa?

  22. looks good
but back view is not that much impressive
not even the head light is gud
except this the bike looks perfect….

  23. I guess this one looks much better than extreme in front
they should have got LED tail lamps. Though i am not interested in digital console in a bike. Generally sophisticated electronics subjected to heavy rain is not ok to me (I am BE EEE). Though ther rear mud guard looks overdone, will do good for some body following u in rainy season. I am sure this rear mudguard usage in rains will be much better than Pulsar or Apache.

  24. Also the upsweft exhaust is good. HH in recent times has started making the exhaust very downto earth (Compared to bike’s cc). Passion+ and Super splendor have almost same ground clearance for the exhaust tip. (100 and 125). Even Xtreme’s exhaust didn’t gel with the tail’s angle.

  25. The headlamp’s reflector part seems to be picked off from Honda Shine. It seems a new fairing has been desinged for the Shine’s reflector assembly. But the reflector is also bigger than that of shine.

  26. according to me this bike is gr8 bcoz it looks damn kewl…n also the engine is quite good enough…… regarding da name its hmmmmm….also good.i mean its fair enough as how da bike looks(“like a hunk”).

  27. the bike is very super but the flap is not upto the mark and the engine

  28. At last Hero Honda have outdone Bajaj in the tank design. This was the main reason why people bought the Pulsar because the quality overall is quite dismal.

Now the new Hero Honda Hunk has a tank to die for. Just sit on it and prove it to yourself. It is more attractive, more glamourous overall than the Pulsar. Surely time will tell. Meanwhile exisiting Pulsar owners, eat your heart out.

There is a new kind on the block which looks better and has the quality to back it up. Way to go man !

  29. It is very sylish & strong bike you have launched. It is tough to tvs apache & bajaj pulsur

  30. This is not looks good rear is very bad in look.

  31. this is not a bike, this is the next generation of hero honda

  32. I made the workshop e-manual for this motorcycle, its a very nice bike.

  33. never seen before

  34. Its giving me mileage of 54.29 Km/lit (in delhi traffic with Indian Oil Extra Premium Oil) before first service.

  35. the front part is very appealing but the rear is very disappointing… what’s wrong with hero honda.. the rear is simply borrowed from the earlier model Ambition… infact is the same.. a slight increase in the wheel base pushing the rear tyre further back will give this baby a sporty look ofcourse cutting off that tail will enhance the look further.. come on hero honda think new..

  36. Hi This is pawan sharma from Delhi, When i saw this bike first time, i did`nt like this soo much, but now i believe that its really a beanchmark for the catogary of hero honda.
    Thanks

  37. i have seen the bike and took a test ride of it as well. It looks new and good. The design engineers probably wanted to make it look unique and it does. The tail looks odd a bit but not as odd as pulsars belly. Its a definite hit. Its turbulence flow makes the sprint butter smooth. I am taking it in the next couple of days.

  38. it is infact even smoother than cbzx engine
wen i tookk test ride of cbzx hunk and zma.

  39. HUNKis looking good, pickup is so powerful, but firig is no good overall bike is terrific. DESH KI DHADKAN……………………..

  40. Not so good performance, ut looks some what good.
Performance wise Pulsar is Fabulous & comfortable to ride at 120 speed also.
    Also looks pretty cool.

  41. hi…This is Ranjeet, i bought dis bike in nov,07…& really its an ausumn bike. Its quite smoother than other bikes..pick up is so powerful….look is far better than other hero honda bikes…now its easy for me to do wheelie wd dis bike wd powerful pickup….

  42. Hey,Am planing to get HUNK on 01-03-08,But iam looking for Digtial meter.IS HH is planing to launch with Digtial Meter. It will be nice..

  43. Hi,first off all thanx’s for the list of specfication but can someone tell me about the average of the bike hunk.

  44. I am confused can any one help me out, According to my fathers suggestions the “Hero honda hunk 150″, the “Apache RTR 160″ and “BAJAJ Pulsar180″ are the most cool and latest bikes with extreme engeerings (areodanamics, etc).
Now I have a buget of nearly 57,000 which would be the best to buy.Plz. Help. me……..!!!!!!!
