Hero Honda’s newest member in the premium segment ‘HUNK’ (Err…What name?) has been launched today, with a price tag of Rs. 55K (Ex showroom Delhi). The Hunk Does not come with all the features that it was speculated to come with, and is a 150cc premium segment bike, sharing a tweaked engine with CBZ Xtreme. The engine volumes 149.2cc and produces 14.2 bhp @ 8500rpm with a max torque of 12.8Nm @ 6500rpm.
The Hunk now comes with gas charged, adjustable rear shocks (first on a Hero Honda) and no mono shock as expected. There’s a new tank design with a fairing extending from it. The tail piece though is disappointingly similar to Hero Honda’s Ambition. No Digital instrumentation, no LED tail lamps, no rear discs, no split rear grabs, no body colored mirrors and full fairing as expected but you can do without them either.
There some freshness in the bike’s design by means of the new tank and a new bikini fairing (not the one that I would hate in the CBZX), but the tail piece though could have been improved. The design however feels very Apache-ish in terms of the tank design and the rear tail piece. Similarities in looks can also be drawn to Yamaha YBR 250, but of course I am not belittling Hero Honda’s efforts in to the design. I do criticize Hero Honda for their sticker upgrades; this one thankfully has no silly stickers stuck around, surprising right?
The bike is available in two options, kick start and self with the self start option being at Rs 57K (Ex Delhi). Here are the rest of the tech specs as posted by Diesel on Autocar India Forum
The only problem, how would you say to your friend “I ride a Hunk” Some one please help Hero Honda with some good bike names.

But still can’t see the front face! looks like good old cbz engine re-fit… No mono, No Digi, No LED.. I’m not sure it can lead the 150… rather it would confuse the segment… Whome is it targeted for!!!! cdz in new avtar… what for?

Thanks for the pics but looking a the specs, I find the entire package disappointing. first, dumb name, no fancy instrumentation, and look at the weight; heaviest in its class. So nothing much to look out on the performance front either

It looks great in all the pictures. There are lot of issues people get with Digi Speedometer and LEDs, so HH has done a good job to keep them out as much as possible in their lineup. The only thing I am worried about this baby is its tail. Its very far away.

Fit and finish of this bike is definitely top notch – a new benchmark in this category. Agree with Praveen, this one has some striking similarity to the old CBZ. For ex – the Tank (sans the fuel lid and extensions) and the side panels (to some extent) seem to be borrowed from the CBZ. Need to compare the same against the dimensions of the CBZ. I would be surprised if there’s no difference in the wheelbase and specs….and ofcourse, an awful name for a bike.

I hope Its rear mud guard/tail does not wobble like Pulsar 200. that looks wiered….. Has anyone see it on Indian roads yet ??
From some angles the shape looks good, but actually noting great, just a new bike.
It has been given a manly name, but this name will never apeal Indian Public. Nothing Manly / truly Male than PULSAR…

I guess this one looks much better than extreme in front
they should have got LED tail lamps. Though i am not interested in digital console in a bike. Generally sophisticated electronics subjected to heavy rain is not ok to me (I am BE EEE). Though ther rear mud guard looks overdone, will do good for some body following u in rainy season. I am sure this rear mudguard usage in rains will be much better than Pulsar or Apache.

Also the upsweft exhaust is good. HH in recent times has started making the exhaust very downto earth (Compared to bike’s cc). Passion+ and Super splendor have almost same ground clearance for the exhaust tip. (100 and 125). Even Xtreme’s exhaust didn’t gel with the tail’s angle.

The headlamp’s reflector part seems to be picked off from Honda Shine. It seems a new fairing has been desinged for the Shine’s reflector assembly. But the reflector is also bigger than that of shine.

At last Hero Honda have outdone Bajaj in the tank design. This was the main reason why people bought the Pulsar because the quality overall is quite dismal.
Now the new Hero Honda Hunk has a tank to die for. Just sit on it and prove it to yourself. It is more attractive, more glamourous overall than the Pulsar. Surely time will tell. Meanwhile exisiting Pulsar owners, eat your heart out.
There is a new kind on the block which looks better and has the quality to back it up. Way to go man !

the front part is very appealing but the rear is very disappointing… what’s wrong with hero honda.. the rear is simply borrowed from the earlier model Ambition… infact is the same.. a slight increase in the wheel base pushing the rear tyre further back will give this baby a sporty look ofcourse cutting off that tail will enhance the look further.. come on hero honda think new..

i have seen the bike and took a test ride of it as well. It looks new and good. The design engineers probably wanted to make it look unique and it does. The tail looks odd a bit but not as odd as pulsars belly. Its a definite hit. Its turbulence flow makes the sprint butter smooth. I am taking it in the next couple of days.
